Steam once again breaks its record of concurrent players. Due to the effect of COVID-19, the majority of players have spent more time indoors. The past few weeks have been great as most games started peaking record numbers of users. These include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Cyberpunk 2077. Both games had more than 1 million concurrent users.
According to SteamDB, Steam broke an all-time high record by peaking at 24 million users. With the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, 24,804,148 players were online simultaneously.
Steam’s UI and deals are compelling users to migrate from other platforms, such as Epic Games Store, GOG, and Origin. Steam’s availability for EA games and other titles makes it a must-have launcher for most players too.
Steam is also offering tons of holiday deals like Halloween, Autumn sale, and festive offers, which boosted the number of players. Free games like Apex Legends, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive played an important role as well. While paid games, Cyberpunk 2077, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, and Grand Theft Auto V didn't stop player migration. So, this is the perfect time to grab the game you've been waiting to try out. Many games right now have insane deals or will go live soon.
So, what are your thoughts on Steam breaking records? Are you planning on buying any games from Steam while you are spending time alone? Personally, I would suggest getting other multiplayer titles until Cyberpunk 2077 is fully fixed and optimized. Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
