Warcraft III Reforged’s release was troublesome, to say the least. While fans of the franchise were eager to know how their favorite game is going to be remastered, the end result left much to be desired. However, this didn’t stop some of Blizzard’s passionate fans from recreating one of the most iconic RTS games in history: Warcraft II.
The “Chronicles of the Second War” is a fan-made mod that was developed with the help of eight passionate developers. It was originally built by Tamplier777 but it attracted and created a pool of like-minded individuals that led to something extraordinary.
ShadiHD, the project manager of the group, said that their intent was to recreate all campaigns in the original Warcraft II game. Only this time, the graphical elements will use custom assets of Warcraft III Reforged.

So, what can you expect from the fan-made mod? The story draws from the original Warcraft II lore, which is both from the original game and the books.
Those who have played the game before will be happy to know that the core characters are still intact. You can play some of your favorite characters, including Grom Hellscream, Anduin Lothar, Kargath Bladefist, and Turalyon, which are present in the second war.
The gameplay is heavily influenced by the Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal storylines, while using Warcraft III Reforged as mentioned earlier. There is a notable change, however, in that the story follows a more linear progression as opposed to the branching storylines followed in the original title.
As for tech trees, they will also be updated using the new in-game assets and the devs are making sure that most of it will follow the original formula. They are going to introduce a new one, though, and that new tech tree is for the Dwarves of Khaz Modan.
What’s interesting here is that all cinematics and important cutscenes have active voiceovers, which just tells you the amount of thought and effort put into this.
