In Scandal Season 12 episode 19, the Republican candidates, Mellie Grant, Susan Ross and Hollis Doyle are vying for the endorsement of Florida Governor Louise Baker. Whoever wins the backing from this red state politician is pretty much guaranteed to win the state’s primary election.
Baker is hosting a party that Mellie, Susan and Hollis will all attend. Mellie and Susan in particular are being prepped by their teams on how to win over the governor.
This race will also see heavy competition between Olivia, who is Mellie’s campaign manager and Abby, who is part of Susan’s election team. They have been at odds ever since episode 17 , where Abby’s attempt to override Olivia’s plans lead to the death of the former Vice President, Andrew Nichols.
The two former friends and colleagues will be so caught up in trying to beat one another that they may keep Mellie and Susan from even being able to meet Louise Baker, let alone win her endorsement.
Will Abby and Olivia’s feud jeopardize their candidates presidential future? We will find out in the upcoming episode, called “Buckle Up,” which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live .
The rest of the story unfolds Thursday when Scandal airs at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
