Who Will Be The Next James Bond? Here's Who 'Bond' Producers Have Their Hearts Set On

James Bond movie producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have expressed their wishes for who will take on the mantle of 007 in the franchise’s next film, according to Callum McDougall, executive producer on the last four films. Is it Idris Elba? Is it Tom Hiddleston? Is it Jennifer Lawrence (she's in everything)?

Nope. In a radio interview with the BBC, McDougall stated that the James Bond producers still want Daniel Craig to remain in his role as a gritty, realer, blonder Bond.

McDougall has worked on nine 007 movies and when asked if Craig would be returning, answered, “I wish I knew.”

He added, “We love Daniel. We would love Daniel to return as Bond. Without any question he is absolutely Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli’s first choice. I know they’re hoping for him to come back.”

He also stated that if Craig is willing to join the next Bond movie the role would “absolutely” be his.

Craig, meanwhile, has been rather vocal about his exhaustion with the Bond movies. In an interview with Time Out magazine late last year, he was asked whether he wanted to do another Bond movie. His answer? “Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Will a multi-million dollar payday be enough to bring Craig back to a role he’s over and done with? Craig is the sixth actor to play Bond, starting with Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). Four movies isn’t chump change, but if the Harry Potter kids could do it, why can’t Craig?
