As if the hype for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla wasn’t enough, Ubisoft appears to be upping the ante. The studio is hosting a digital variety show dubbed as Odin’s Hootenanny on November 6 at 12:00 PM EST. This is in celebration of the upcoming launch of Assassin's Creed Valhalla on November 12.
The show is being presented in partnership with Xbox Series X/S. It’s going to feature segments from Xbox, IGN and BAFTA. The show is to be hosted by none other than Danny Wallace. This actor and comedian is known to fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise for his portrayal of Shaun Hastings.
The livestreamed event is going to feature a wide range of exclusive content, like a gameplay reveal from the Xbox Series X version of Valhalla. The full show includes:
- Eivor Critiques IGN’s Viking Skills
- Magnus Bruun, the talented Danish actor behind male Eivor, is going to provide live commentary direct from a Viking long-hall in Denmark. Meanwhile Amy Mallett and Stevie Coales seek to prove their mettle in dark-age Leicestershire. Of course in true Viking fashion, Magnus’ commentary is going to be both unforgiving and brutal. However, it’s also going to be just as colorful.
- BAFTA presents The Art of Storytelling
- In this extended BAFTA Guru feature, Elle Osili-Wood is going to sit down with Narrative Director Darby McDevitt in order to go deeper in to the storytelling of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
- Xbox On presents Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Xbox Series X
- This extended gameplay segment will showcase the game on the new Xbox Series X hardware.
- Modern-Day Flyting
- Gaming rapper and self-proclaimed Rhyme Minister Dan Bull is set to go head-to-head with British rap star Lethal Bizzle. Prepare to experience a modern interpretation of a dark-age flyting battle, one that’s filled with sarcastic wit.
- A Very Viking Gameshow
- This live-action and socially distanced game-show has two teams of the UK’s finest presenters and content creators battle it out in a series of Viking challenges. Challenges include axe-throwing along with mind-games, and even Kerplunk. There’s even going to be an actual raven named Loki.
In a statement, Wallace revealed that he has been a huge fan of the franchise and is happy to be part of the series. He added that he has seen the upcoming game and it appears to be the best so far. Wallace went on to say that “when Ubisoft tempted me out of the house with ravens, skulls and axes, how could I turn them down?”
