The BLAST Premier matches between Astralis vs New NIP have concluded. The matchup between the two teams was played in a best of three series.
Overpass was the first map of the series. NIP started strong with a three-round lead, however, in Round 4, Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and Emil "Magisk" Hoffmann Reif from Astralis stopped NIP from even executing into the site. The round started out with NIP pushing into the site really fast, but gla1ve ended the push by getting two kills and then Magisk cleaned up post-plant by eliminating the final two players defending the bomb.
The first match of the series was pretty close but NIP managed to win the map with a 16-13 scoreline. Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen carried Astralis with 30 kills yet it didn’t matter as they lost the map.
The second and final map of the series was Inferno. In Round 7, Astralis made a very smart move by pushing into B site and then smoking off all the exits and planting. The smokes prevented NIP from going in, which allowed Astralis to get the bomb planted and win the round.
In the final round, NIP had done well when they managed to push into A site and get the bomb down while picking off members of Astralis one at a time. Erik "ztr" Gustafsson carried NIP with 46 kills but the entire roster played well in terms of frags. On the other hand, Astralis had a hard time with frags as most of their members barely had a positive K/D.
Nobody expected this outcome. Astralis likely lost due to less information/VODs on the other team. As a sequence, Astralis will go to lower brackets.
