The former esports player William “Blitz” Lee is finally returning to competitive Dota 2, embarking on his new coaching career. He is expected to spearhead the new Team Liquid roster, which is led by Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi.
The announcement comes courtesy of Austin “Capitalist” Walsh, the longtime casting partner of Blitz. Walsh said that Blitz will be coaching Liquid on his Side Pull Podcast. Nonetheless, Blitz has already received contracts to start working on a variety of events, so it is very likely for him to be seen casting alongside Capitalist for the first part of the Dota Pro Circuit season. From there, he should gradually shift focus on his new coaching career.
It holds true that Blitz is best known for his casting career. However, what most do not realize is that he actually has experience when it comes to coaching. He already coached several esteemed Dota 2 pro teams and players, including Digital Chaos – a team that made it to The International 2016 finals. Even more so, he also worked in the past with Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi, the former Liquid captain.
Blitz has alternated between casting and coaching for a large part of his entire career. That is why he is able to introduce a more unique approach whenever he casts Dota 2 tournaments. His countless stories and experience when it comes to working with esports players have won his casting positive feedback from the community.
As a matter of fact, he is known for being one of the very first pioneers of the Korean Dota 2 scene. He was even among the Western players who were able to participate in the Nexon Sponsorship League.
Capitalist, on the other hand, is preparing a new casting duo with Trent “TrentPax” MacKenzie. While it remains a mystery, it seems to be that TrentPax’s previous TI casting partner Gabriel “Lyrical” Cruz will be left in limbo.
