Weapon crafting in Destiny 2 is going to be much easier next season. In the meantime, the limit for weapon crafting resources will be increased in an upcoming update. The recent “This Week at Bungie” also reveals the roadmap for the rest of the Season of the Risen.
Weapon Crafting Changes
One of the best things about The Witch Queen expansion is weapon crafting. Simply put, weapon crafting requires you to obtain Deepsight Resonance Weapons to extract their patterns and resources. Then, you head to the Mars Enclave to “Shape” the patterns, thus creating the weapons you want.
That said, developers saw that many people are maxing out their crafting resources quite often. To address this, they’re going to increase the limits with Hotfix 4.0.0.4, which will be deployed this coming Tuesday. Element caps will be increased to 1,000, while the Neutral Element cap to 10,000.
Furthermore, elements other than the Neutral Element will be removed next season. This means that Ruinous, Adroit, Mutable, Drowned, and Energetic elements will no longer be needed to craft weapons in Season 17. The reason is that some specific ones, such as Ruinous and Adroit, became redundant and are in conflict with Neutral Elements and Ascendant Alloys. In other words, the devs just want to streamline weapon crafting moving forward.
While they have not disclosed anything specific, developers have some areas they’re looking to improve. First, they will look into giving you more control over unlocking patterns from Deepsight weapons. Second, they are finding ways to make Deepsight weapon stockpiling, acquisition, and progression better. Third, they’re internally discussing feedback from the community about reshaping costs, so that you can experiment with different trait selections more frequently.
