Destiny: Rise Of Iron is finally here, so we’ve made a guide to help find the expansion’s most talked about exotic. The Khvostov 7G-0X is a trumped-up version of the original Khvostov, and it mixes the original weapon’s sentimentality with some brute-force power. There are two different paths to get this gun, so we’ll explain both.

1) If You Already Have An Original Khvostov: Many Destiny enthusiasts hang on to their Khvostov as a keepsake, and Rise Of Iron rewards that hoarding by making the exotic grind a little shorter for some. Simply dismantle the Khvostov to receive the schematic for the Khvostov 7G-0X. From there, take it to Shiro-4 in the Felwinter social space to unlock the quest “We Found A Rifle.”

2) If You Don’t Have A Khvostov: Those that don’t have a Khvostov are best served by first getting a Splicer Intel Relay that’s often dropped by a Hive Brood Mother near the Plaguelands Patrol spawn. With the relay in hand, head back to the Plaguelands spawn and get to the very beginning of the game through the old Cosmodrome area. Just before the stairs is a laser grid. Use the Intel relay to unlock it.

After that, you’ll come across a huge Fallen Ketch. Jump on it and kill all of the enemies in the vicinity. With everything clear, open the chest in the back right to get the Khvostov 7G-0X schematic. Take it to Shiro-4 in the Felwinter social space to unlock the quest “We Found A Rifle.”

If that sounds like too much of a pain, it’s also possible to quickly get a Khvostov by starting a new character, putting the gun in your vault and letting your main character access it. However, you won’t be rewarded with the Intel Relay.

“We Found a Rifle”: No matter how the schematic is earned, the quest has the same requirements. Players must find 10 manual pages and three weapon parts. Pages can be found simply by killing Splicers in the Plaguelands. Each page will glow like a collectible, so they should be easy to spot.

The parts are a bit trickier because they require a fair amount of backtracking. Those that need additional help can watch the YouTube video above. The first part can be found near where the player first earns their ship. Via the Plaguelands patrol spawn, make your way to the Rocket Yard through the newly sliced door. This should bring you to the Cosmodrome where the ship typically is. In the back of the area is a crate by the stairs.

Parts two and three are found near the Sepiks Prime strike. One is right before the site of the Hive fight. The final part is in the large building in the middle of the Splicer Tank battle.

With everything collected, go back to Shiro-4 to get the last part of the quest. Head back to orbit, select Earth and begin “Khvostov Rising.” The actual mission is pretty self-explanatory and is best handled with a team. Completing it will get players the Khvostov 7G-0X.

Destiny: Rise Of Iron is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. We also have updated guides for difficult achievements, Dead Ghost and Dormant SIVA locations too.
