Feral Interactive announced that DiRT 4 for macOS and Linux will be available on March 28. Deveoped by Codemasters, this racing game focuses on rally racing, with players competing in time-stage events under different weather conditions.
For DiRT 4, the locations are Michigan in the United States, Fitzroy in Australia, Powys in Wales, Tarragona in Spain, and Värmland in Sweden. The game allows players to use a wide range of Group A and Group N cars of the 1990s and the 2000s. It even has Group B cars from the 1980s. Offroad cars are included as well, in the likes of Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2, Ford Fiesta R5, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, and Subaru WRX STI NR4.
This latest game also has a feature called "Your Stage." Here, players can create their own rally routes and even set their own conditions.
For the macOS version, it is recommended that players use Mac OS X 10.14.2 or higher, but the Mac OS X 10.14.2 is a good minimum requirement. The recommended processor is the Intel Core i5 1.8 GHz with 8 GB of RAM and 38 GB Hard Disk space. Minimum graphics requirements are 1GB Nvidia 650M, 2GB AMD Radeon R9 M290, or 1.5GB Intel Iris Pro 5200.
The game is also supported on all 13" MacBook Pros released since 2016 and all 27" iMacs released since late 2013. While the game can run on all 13" MacBook Airs released since Mid 2012 and all 13” MacBook Pros released since Mid 2012, they might not meet the standards needed for support.
For Linux players, the OS needed is Ubuntu 18.04 (64bit) with Hard Disk space of 38 GB. The minimum requirement is an Intel Core i3-3225 3.3 GHz processor with 4 GB RAM, though the recommended one is Intel Core i5-6600K with 8 GB RAM. For graphics, the requirement should be at least a 2GB Nvidia GTX 680, 2GB AMD R9 285, or2GB AMD GCN 3rd.
Feral Interactive says that the Linux version requires Vulkan with the Nvidia graphics cards needing a driver at least version 418.43. AMD graphics cards, meanwhile, need at least Mesa drivers version 18.3.4. While modern drivers and distributions can work, they will not be officially supported.
