In an unsurprising turn of events, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 made it to the top of charts in March 2019. Released at roughly the same time as other highly-anticipated titles - particularly FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 - The Division 2 takes the lead in terms of gross sales last month.
Thanks to the folks at IGN, we were able to find out from the National Purchase Daily (NPD) report the top-selling games of March. The NPD came out only earlier today, and highlights that The Division 2 is not only the best-selling game of March 2019, but so-far the second-best-selling game of the year.
Followed closely by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, The Division 2 came out on top this March, but is expected to overthrow the current reigning chart-topper, Kingdom Hearts III. Of course, Kingdom Hearts III had a lead of a month’s worth of sales, but the game itself had massive success at launch. After only two months, Kingdom Hearts III has already surpassed the lifetime sales of the original Kingdom Hearts game, and is only getting more popular as time passes. Right now, it’s anybody’s guess who will come out on top at the end of the year, especially with plenty more titles expected to come out in the three remaining quarters of 2019.
What do you think about the success of these video game titles? The Division 2 from French developer Ubisoft has definitely made waves around the gaming community - it now has a public test server, the game is polished, players haven’t encountered that many bugs, and so far it’s been releasing content on schedule. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, on the other hand, is another breakaway hit from the makers of Dark Souls and Bloodborne. However, Kingdom Hearts III is a legacy title that pays homage to a franchise that is older and more celebrated than The Division 2 and Sekiro combined, drawing in fans across generations. In any case, we’d like to know who you think will come out on top! Leave us a message in the comments section below.
