The Division 2 announced that the Warlords of New York expansion is all set to be released on March 3. This expansion brings players back to where everything began as the action now shifts to Lower Manhattan. Offered with the new expansion is a new open-world map and a new story that brings back a former Agent.
The story this time highlights the return of a familiar face in Division Agent Aaron Keener. If you’ve been following the story, Agent Keener was last seen after the first game. You can read more about the recap in last week’s State of the Game here.
It appears that Keener is back on the radar and has other rogue Agents working with him. Not only has he managed to unite the different violent factions of New York under his wing, but it appears that he is working on a new bioweapon that looks to be more dangerous that Green Poison.
However, it won’t be that easy to take down Keener. Players need to go through four of his lieutenants, each considered as one of the most dangerous Division Agents. The consolation is that once players defeat them, they get to claim new Skills.
Overall, Warlords of New York offers players five main campaign missions. Four of these can be done in any order. Of course, there’s going to be open-world activities, but players are sure to love the eight interconnected side missions as well. Once players manage to hurdle everything, there’s going to be an endgame that they need to face as it can affect not just New York, but, in all likelihood, even Washington, DC.
There’s also going to be four new zones which are the Financial District, Civic Center, Battery Park, and Two Bridges. However, players need to be at least Level 30 and World Tier 5 in order to play this new content. Those who manage to pre-purchase this expansion set can immediately jump up to Level 30, if they aren’t already.
This new expansion is also going to introduce some gameplay improvements resulting mainly from community feedback. There’s the new gear system, which you can read more about here, and the recalibration and skill power that you can read here.
Warlords of New York is also going to increase the level cap to 40. There’s also going to be what is known as an infinite SHD Level Progression system. Here players can continue to earn perks points in order to improve their Agent indefinitely.
Four new skills are going to be available for players to unlock which are a decoy, an incendiary sticky bomb launcher, a trip-wire trap, and an explosive sticky bomb launcher. This being an expansion, expect some new gear and even new branded sets, named items, and exotic armor and weapons.
In addition, one week after this expansion is launched, The Division 2 is going to introduce Seasons of content. Each Season is going to offer a three-month Manhunt endgame where players need to track a new target by first hunting for four lieutenants. Each of these Seasons is also going to offer its own Battle Pass-like system that features both Free and Premium tracks.
For those who can’t wait for the expansion and want in on the action, Episode 3 - Coney Island: The Hunt arrives tomorrow for Year 1 Pass owners. It’s going to be available to everyone by February 19.
The Division 2 is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
