EA Originals has partnered with KOEI TECMO and studio Omega Force to develop an original game. Not much has been revealed except that it will be a hunting game based in fantasy feudal Japan.
For those who haven’t heard of developer Omega Force, the studio is actually part of KOEI known for games with a wide range of genres, from hack-and-slash games to hunting action games. Some of the studio’s works include the highly-popular Warriors series and the likes of Attack on Titan, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, and Hyrule Warriors.
Going back to the upcoming title, if you’re having trouble imagining what kind of game it is, think of hunting games like Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter, Hunt: Showdown, theHunter: Call of the Wild, and Monster Hunter Rise.
In a statement, KOEI TECMO Executive Vice President Yosuke Hayashi revealed that it was an honor to have partnered with EA Originals and have the support of a team that has a good track record for launching groundbreaking new games. He added that the team at EA has embraced their creative independence and became invaluable partners by offering development and publishing support.
Hayashi went on to say that with the global resources of EA, they’ll get the help they need to develop a new hunting game for a worldwide audience. He concluded that he was excited to see everyone play this upcoming game.
KOEI TECMO is headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, and develops and publishes interactive entertainment software. Its portfolio includes Nioh, DYNASTY WARRIORS, Atelier, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dead or Alive, SAMURAI WARRIORS, Ninja Gaiden, and the NeoRomance series.
Meanwhile, EA Partners General Manager Jeff Gamon revealed that they’re happy to have partnered with the talented Omega Force team. He added that Omega Force has managed to bring the hunting genre to the next level by combining combat gameplay with unexpected and innovative mechanics.
EA Originals is a program within Electronic Arts that aims to support independently developed video games. Games under EA Originals include A Way Out, Knockout City, It Takes Two, and Lost in Random.
More details about this upcoming game are set to be revealed later this month.
