I can’t believe it’s been 21 years since the original release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan. The franchise has only continued to grow since its inception, just like the fans who started on their Kanto journey all those years ago. Pokémon might be the most important video game franchise to me: I’ve played every video game (console or handheld), own countless pieces of clothing dedicated to Ash and the gang, and even stood outside in the cold for hours to catch everything I could in Pokémon Go.
Unlike last year’s 20-year anniversary, Nintendo has a lot less planned for the franchise reaching the legal drinking age. Pikachu is getting a party hat in Pokemon Go, you can get a Bottlecap in Pokemon Sun and Moon by visiting a Gamestop and every single Pokemon movie is streaming on Pokemon TV.
If that’s not enough to get you hyped, here are a few of my favorite ways people are celebrating #PokemonDay:
Kking's terrible art and content remembers how forgetful Slowpoke is.

Every Pikachu needs a party hat.
Happy #PokemonDay fellow Trainers! __
