Far Cry 5 promos have apparently leaked via Red Robot King 7’s YouTube channel. While the three clips only amount to about 90 seconds of partially reused footage, they offer a sneak peek at what to expect when the game releases in March. We searched for an official Ubisoft source for the content and have yet to find one.
The most telling promo is essentially a story trailer focused on Joseph Seed and his Project At Eden’s Gate cult. “I am your father and you are my children,” Seed exclaims while promising followers “you will confess.” As a pseudo-mantra for the rest of the game, Seed also says “no sinners, no suffering,” suggesting that his larger goal is to purge Hope County of “sinners” to make it his ideal home.
This devious preacher won’t carry through with his mission totally unabated, however. The player character has teamed up with fellow law enforcement officials and mercenaries to strike back. In the other promos, the player collaborates with flightworthy father Nick Rye to attack enemies from above. You’ll also be able to ride ATVs, blow up enemy outposts with dynamite and get attacked by bobcats, eagles, wolves and buffalo. The trustworthy dog Boomer is the only furry companion at your side
This new crop of Far Cry 5 footage doesn’t offer much that’s vastly different from the extensive gameplay looks and trailers of the past, but it’s always nice to learn a little bit more about the land you’ll be exploring very soon. True to Far Cry form, players will have lots of cool activities to do in Ubisoft’s massive playground. When not taking down religious zealots, solo adventurers and co-op partners can hunt, fish and converse with locals.
These promos are yet another sign Ubisoft’s marketing machine is in full swing leading up to Far Cry 5’s release. Over the past few weeks new special editions have been announced, a Joseph Seed figurine is available for pre-order and the game’s official ESRB ratings description has been posted. In case you were worried about one more delay leading up to launch, these events strongly suggest that won’t happen.
Far Cry 5 was officially unveiled in the days leading up to E3 2017, and it’s exciting to know the finished product is almost here. Highlight features of this new installment include the removal of the divisive tower mechanic, less reliance on an icon-peppered world map and new gameplay mechanics that emphasize squad-focused tactics. Far Cry 5 doesn’t appear to reinvent an established franchise, but if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines for a while this new installment will offer dozens of hours of content.
Far Cry 5 comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC March 27.
