The FIFA World Cup 2022 is the biggest event in the world of football and it starts November 20. In celebration of this upcoming competition, the World Cup Update is set to be released for FIFA 23 on November 9, available for everyone to download for free.
Once this update goes live, fans can play as any of the 32 qualified nations in a genuine recreation of the full FIFA World Cup 2022, from the opening match to the final game. Players can also customize their experience by changing groups and substituting in select teams that weren't able to make it to the finals.
There is also the Online Tournament Mode. Here, fans fight through the knockout stages as any of the qualified nations and aim for glory against other players worldwide.
In a statement, Nick Wlodyka of EA Sports shared that they’re thrilled to offer an immersive and hands-on experience for many football fans around the world. He revealed that the studio’s first ever football game was developed around international football. As such, he added, they’ve been building on the experience since then.
The World Cup Experience
Being able to play as one of the qualified nations isn’t the only thing that the World Cup Update is bringing to the game. From November 21 to December 18, there’s going to be the FIFA World Cup: Live, a curated EA Sports World Cup experience made for FIFA 23 players.
This new live experience is going to be updated during the tournament’s group and knockout stages. With this, players can follow along with authentic fixtures and squads for each game. In addition, fans also get the chance to write their own history by changing the outcome of any matches played in the past.
Your Time to Shine
Another feature is Your FIFA World Cup. In this one, players can choose a nation and select a live starting point from past or current matchdays. After that, they can play an authentic single player tournament inheriting all the real-world progress made to date and let them take control of their favorite team and its destiny.
There’s no question that there’s a lot to look forward to when the World Cup Update goes live. Be sure to check it out once it arrives.
Released on September 30, FIFA 23 is available on PC through the EA app, Origin, Epic Games Store and Steam. The game was also released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
