Fitbit has announced a new slim fitness tracker, the Fitbit Alta, which will be available starting in March for $129.95 at retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Brookstone, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nordstrom, REI, Target, The Sports Authority, Verizon and Walmart. The fitness wristband is currently available for preorder .
Main features on the watch include Fitbit’s SmartTrack exercise recognition mechanism, which also tracker exercise goals, activity through the day and sleeping. The fitness tracker will also give users reminders to move around when they have been stationary for too long.
Users can also receive call, text and calendar notifications from the slender tap screen on the Fitbit Alta. The fitness tracker connects to devices via Bluetooth and is compatible with more than 200 devices, including Android, iOS and Windows mobile devices and computers. The Fitbit Alta has a battery life of about five days.
Users can also interchange Fitbit Alta bands. The classic fitness bands are available in black, blue, teal and plum for $29.95. The luxe leather bands are available in graphite and blush pink for $59.95, with a camel color option coming soon. The luxe stainless steel band is available in silver for $99.95 with a gold color option coming later in the year.
The Fitbit Alta comes just one month after the Fitbit Blaze smart fitness watch was announced at CES. Other trackers in the Fitbit line include the Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Blaze, Fitbit Charge HR, Fitbit Alta, Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit One and Fitbit Zip.
