Gamescom is happening throughout the week, and as such gamers can expect a ton of new announcements surrounding highly anticipated titles, as well as new releases from publishers and developers. Nothing beats the excitement surrounding fresh news on upcoming titles, and these are at the center of the five-day major gaming event at the Koelmnesse in Germany. Be sure to stay tuned with us the whole week as we bring you the latest from Gamescom 2019 in the form of the latest trailers, announcements, news and other information drops on all the newest games hitting the market.
One of the most highly anticipated games for next year is the third installment for the Watch Dogs franchise, titled Watch Dogs: Legion. During its unveiling in Gamescom, we have been treated to a trailer named “Welcome to the Resistance”.
Set in a corruption-filled London, players lead a resistance to take back the city from the oppressive opportunists and give it to the people. As is expected from the Watch Dogs franchise, it will mix hacking, stealth, and combat in a slightly futuristic London.
One of its main features, and arguably what makes it different from its two predecessors, is giving players the ability to play as anyone. We have already been teased with a trailer from a few months ago showcasing gameplay as an elderly woman. This time, the three minute video elaborates further on this new gameplay mechanic.
During your travels, you have the ability to recruit virtually anyone from the London population. These characters each have their own strengths, weaknesses, and unique backstories. Examples provided include a tough bareknuckle fighter, and elderly rifleman that may suddenly drop dead, and a cunning lawyer that can get your recruited operatives out of jail if the need arises.
Customization is also an essential part of Watch Dogs: Legion. You can personalize looks, outfits, and also level up each character depending on your playstyle. Classes such as Hacker, Infiltrator, and Assault are just three of the many you can choose from.
Lots of other new features have also been added, one of which is the interesting Real Consequences mechanic which can either mean life or death for your operatives. Watch Dogs: Legion looks to continue and exceed the trajectory set by Watch Dogs 2, but we have to wait until March 6, 2020 until we can give it a final judgment.
Be sure to stick around for more news on the latest happenings from Gamescom all throughout the week.
