Tax season is just around the corner and while people are doing last minute preparations for their tax returns, GameStop is going in a different direction with its Tax ReFUN 2019 sale. The sale runs from February 24 to March 5. GameStop kicked off the event with a members-only Pro Day sale last February 23.
In a statement, company Vice President of Merchandising Eric Bright said that fpr those looking to save at this time of the year, this sale "offers some of the best deals on video games and pop culture merchandise."
Games on sale include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Madden NFL 19, both priced at $19.99. NBA 2K19, Battlefield V, and WWE 2K19, are available at $24.99. Call of Duty: Black Ops III is at $29.99 while Just Cause 4 comes in at $39.99.
Other items on sale include the Xbox One X 1TB Fallout 76 Bundle, priced at $399.99. Nintendo Switch consoles with Neon Blue and Red Joy-Con are bundled with a $35 eShop credit for $299.99. Meanwhile, Switch The Legend of Zelda Holiday Accessory Bundle and the Super Mario Holiday Accessory Bundle are both priced at $39.99.
A 3-month Xbox Live Gold Membership is available for $14.99, down from $24.99. A 6-month membership can be purchased for $29.99 instead of the usual $39.99.
Video game accessories and other fun items are also on sale. Pokémon fans can get an assortment of 4.5-inch action figures for $3.74 each. A Bulbusaur Plush can be purchased for $11.24.
GameStop is also offering deals on retro memorabilia, racing wheels, and even Gunnar Gaming Glasses. The company is even advertising micro players for different classics like Dig Dug, Galaga, and Pacman.
Analysts are saying that the company is likely pressured to meet sale expectations for this event as it is no longer looking to sell and the fact that 2018 holiday sales were down compared to 2017.
