Gears Tactics isn't like the traditional third-person Gears of War games that you may have played. Gears Tactics is basically a turn-based strategy game, similar to the popular X-COM series. Gears Tactics initially released for PC in April earlier this year and now the game is set to launch on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
Now that Gears Tactics is launching on the next generation of Xbox consoles, developer The Coalition has stated that Gears Tactics will be playable in native 4K and 60fps. However, it isn't just a basic port of the game from PC to Console. Gears Tactics on Xbox Series X and S will also feature new content.
The new content includes a playable character known as Jack. Long time Gears of War fans should remember Jack as a robot companion who assisted Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War trilogy. Jack was capable of hacking electronics and cloaking himself. He is also returned in Gears 5 as a playable character. In Gears Tactics, however, Jack will have an area of effect attack and the ability to hack certain enemy types.
Furthermore, Gears Tactics will also feature a new enemy type called Deviants. According to The Coalition, the Deviants are designed to offer more challenge. The developer hasn't stated how the new enemy type will prove to be a challenge, except that these Deviants respond quickly to player moves. Taking out the Deviant enemies will drop high-power gear.
Even though the new content will be added after Gears Tactics releases on Xbox Series X and S, it won't be exclusive to consoles. PC players will be receiving the new content for free after it releases.
Gears Tactics is currently available for PC. The game is scheduled to launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X on November 10th.
