Are you a God of War fan? Then you better free up your schedule on May 10, because the God of War documentary Raising Kratos is coming.
The God of War trilogy had behind-the-scenes clips that you could watch after playing the whole game but Sony is here to give us something far better this time around. A full-length documentary has been in production for nearly three years with a huge amount of footage, 400 hours to be exact. The footage was described as a “cinematic journey of second chances rooted in family, sacrifice, struggle, and doubt.”
The documentary was announced last month by Scott Rohde on the PlayStation Blog. After celebrating the first anniversary of God of War by giving PlayStation 4 owners a dynamic theme featuring Kratos and Atreus in the lake of Nine and an avatar set, Santa Monica Studio has even more. Now, for the first time ever, the developers promise to take you on a tour inside the Triple A Santa Monica Studio to introduce the people behind the winner of the Game of the Year prize at the 2019 GDC Awards.
“The ultimate goal was to go beyond a ‘making of’ piece and dig deeper into the experiences of those who spend relentless time and effort into making something great. All creative endeavors, especially those of this magnitude, require an incredible amount of dedication and focus that constantly toe the fine line that separates both success and failure," Rhode explained in the blog post. "The hope is that once people see the experience of Santa Monica Studio unfold on the screen, they will recognize the undying passion for their work and the incredible respect they have for their craft. For God of War specifically, the fans have shown a great deal of love and loyalty which has earned them an everlasting seat at the Santa Monica Studio family table.”
You can watch God of Wars: Raising Kratos on the PlayStation YouTube channel this coming May 10. It will be released at 3:01 a.m. EDT, although you may certainly watch it at your own leisure. What’s even more fun is that you don’t have to worry about paying anything, because it will be totally free for everyone to enjoy.
