An all-new action-adventure game, Gods & Monsters, is set for a worldwide launch on February 25, 2020. From developer Ubisoft, the open world fantasy adventure game follows the story of a forgotten hero who receives a quest from Zeus: save the gods from the most deadly creature in Greek mythology and to help restore their powers.
In Gods & Monsters, players take on the role of the forgotten hero, Fenyx, on a quest to restore power to the Greek gods after Typhon, the deadliest creature in Greek mythology, stole them. The adventure is set on the Isle of the Blessed, where players prove their heroism as they combat dangerous mythological creatures, including the Gorgons, Harpies, Hydras, and Cyclops. Fenyx is fast, agile, and strong. Able to wield special gifts from the gods of Olympus to fight impossible aerial battles, players overcome challenging tests and trials as they perform heroic feats on their epic adventure of saving the gods.
According to a press statement, Gods & Monsters is storybook adventure at heart that “features a lively and colorful open world to discover. Players will roam freely on the ground and glide in the air, taking advantage of their extraordinary abilities to explore this vibrant world full of surprises, epic battles, quests, and fantastical creatures. The journey will be as challenging and rewarding as the destination, and players will emerge as the heroes they were meant to become.”
“Through our work on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey these past four years, our minds have lingered on another aspect of our history – mythology," Ubisoft Quebec Senior Producer Marc-Alexis Côté said in the press statement. "Today, with Gods & Monsters, the tales we all love and know so well become a reality to be explored like never before.”
Gods & Monsters Creative Director Jonathan Dumont meanwhile sets expectations at a high as he comments, “We send you into this open world and try to make sure that the journey is as interesting, challenging, and rewarding as the destination," he said. "It's really about losing yourself into this world that offers a variety of gameplay through combat, puzzles, and traversal. I like that it is approachable and has a feeling of an uplifting adventure for everyone playing it. We're telling a cool story, teaching people about myths, and doing it in an uplifting way"
The 2020 worldwide release of Gods & Monsters is for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. The title is also made available on Uplay+, Ubisoft's just-announced subscription service.
