The Golf Story release date for Nintendo Switch may have leaked early, raising questions about when developer Sidebar Games or Nintendo will make an official announcement. This information comes from a post on video game forum NeoGAF.
According to user Fireblend, Golf Story can be found on the E.U. Switch eShop with a release date of Sept. 28, at a price of £13.49, which is a little over $18. As of right now, Golf Story cannot be found on the U.S. eShop. While that may sound sudden, this lines up with the release information found on the Nintendo website, where Golf Story is listed with a release date of “September 2017.”
So what does this all mean? Is developer Sidebar Games about to stealth-release Golf Story for the Switch without any sort of announcement? Is this just a glitch on Nintendo’s side, and the listing isn’t supposed to be live yet? If it is a mistake, does this mean Golf Story isn’t going to make the planned September 2017 release? Let’s try and figure this all out.
The Sidebar Games Twitter account isn’t very active and hasn’t sent out a tweet since Aug. 6. As of July 27, the developer was still planning a release for the Summer. Seeing as how we are now officially into fall, that estimate is officially incorrect. Sidebar did say to follow the account for any big announcements, but there haven’t been any recently.
Golf Story looks like an interesting blend of a golf game and a sim/RPG like Stardew Valley. There will be eight courses to play on, and a “serious story” about your player giving up everything to pursue a career as a pro golfer. Also included are side missions like mini golf, disc golf, tournaments and other activities.
So what do you think? Are you interested in playing Golf Story whenever it releases for the Switch? Will you wait to see if there will be a release for other consoles? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
