On Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 episode 12, viewers learned that Alex won’t be going to jail for assaulting Andrew DeLuca. The previous episode 11 ended with Meredith discovering Alex sleeping in her bed, after she spent the day looking for him. Alex explained to Meredith and Maggie that the charges against him were ultimately dropped.
Aex intended to accept a plea deal instead of going to trial. While Alex sat with the district attorney and waited for his lawyer, DeLuca came in explaining he intended to drop the charges.
Alex was able to get his job back at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, provided that he submit his documents stating that his criminal case was closed. Alex also apologized to DeLuca; however, he was not receptive to the apology. DeLuca explained had Alex come to him earlier they could have avoided the whole fiasco. He also told Alex that he decided to drop the charges for Jo’s sake.
The altercation began when Alex came home and thought that DeLuca was trying to take advantage of Jo while she was drunk. But he was actually trying to help her into bed. Jo confessed to DeLuca that she couldn’t marry Alex because she was already married to a man who was abusive to her.
Jo has also struggled a lot after witnessing Alex attack DeLuca and dealing with the aftermath. After learning from her friends that he wasn’t in jail, Jo went to Alex’s home, hugged him and left. So at this point Jo and Alex’s relationship remains up in the air, but she is at least happy that he is not in jail.
