With the DC Comics fighting game Injustice 2 now available, new information about the future of the game has been revealed, such as a possible Static Shock inclusion and a special multiverse event coinciding with the release of the Wonder Woman movie.
Injustice 2 character designer, Marco Nelor, shared a piece on his Instagram account showing Virgil Hawkins as he would appear in the Injustice universe. Nelor revealed in his caption how close Static was to making the roster.

Interestingly enough, Static has already made an in-canon appearance in the Injustice universe via the Injustice mobile game to celebrate the mobile app’s two-year anniversary. Still, fans of the character may have to wait to see their favorite trash lid-surfing hero duke it out with other heroes and villains.
Injustice 2 will have nine DLC characters added to the game over the course of the year, so there is a possibility that Static could be among them. Starfire, Sub-Zero and Red Hood were the first three DLC characters announced, and while Raiden and Black Manta seem like sure bets that still leaves four character slots.
However, if the concept artist has come out and voiced his disappointment that Static didn’t make the cut, that pretty much rules the character out for future DLC.
In other Injustice 2 news, a special Wonder Woman event will be coming to the game at the end of May to coincide with the release of the Wonder Woman movie. A special charity Twitch stream of Injustice 2 -- via Comicbook.com -- revealed that starting May 29, players will be able to fight through a special Multiverse event. If successfully completed, a new set of epic gear for Wonder Woman based on the movie will be earned. It’s likely that players will have to climb the multiverse ladder with Wonder Woman to complete the event. Take a look at the brand new gear below.
Injustice 2 is available now for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Wonder Woman will premiere in the U.S. starting June 2.
