Oh, let's break it down! Overwatch's most popular (and only) DJ is next in line to get a brand-new legendary skin when next week's Overwatch cosmetic update drops. The "Capoeira" skin presents Lúcio with an awesome new outfit, the first since his Jazzy skin that launched during the Overwatch Anniversary event last May.
Blizzard broke the news via the official Overwatch Twitter account, which continues the countdown to the launch of the official cosmetics update in-game. The update will bring new goodies for all the heroes, including new emotes, sprays, more legendary skins, and a smattering of other awesome stuff that should keep you coming back for more.
Lúcio’s newest set of duds are based on a real-world fighting style called capoeira. It’s a Brazilian martial art that blends elements of dance, acrobatics, and movements for some truly unique fighting techniques that you've probably seen before from characters like Tekken's Eddy Gordo or the pair of dancing aliens in Bust A Groove 2 on the original PlayStation. Lúcio himself also has a special emote where he busts out some cool capoeira-style moves.
The skin itself is several different shades of green and gold, featuring a bare chest and a striped yellow belt. Gold gauntlets that cover Lúcio's signature rollerblades, his dreads are capped with colorful bands, and his arms are clad with sports bandage-like "sleeves." This look totally works for Lúcio, and it's probably going to be the favorite of several players going forward.
Previously, Blizzard also revealed new hero emotes via Twitter, particularly a video featuring Mercy, Genji, and Sombra and their new moves look pretty fantastic. If you were waiting on your favorite hero to get a new set of content, the anticipated cosmetic update is your answer.
This isn't the first new legendary skin announced ahead of the update, either. Pharah's Asp skin is looking pretty fantastic, and there's also a set of Blizzard-themed skins that'll arrive to the selection of available items you can snag from loot boxes going forward. The new skins and items will all be available as of next week, so make sure you clear your calendar for some serious Overwatch time. There’s going to be a whole lot more on the table to collect, so you may also want to fatten up that piggy bank if you’re interested in buying up some loot boxes soon, too.
