The Mini NES Classic console is the hottest (and hardest to find) toy of the 2016 holiday season and it only makes sense for Nintendo to follow-up with the console that came after the NES, the Super NES.
A Japanese Twitter bot -- via Forbes -- that tweets out the latest trademarks in the country posted this filing with an image of what looks to be a version of the Super Nintendo controller.
Take a look at the tweet and image below.
The translation of the above tweet (which you can read below) confirms it is from Nintendo and for a home video game console.

Classification: 9 (Program for home video game machine, etc.), 28 (home video game machine, etc.)
With how popular the Mini NES Classic has become in the short time it has been released, just imagine the demand for a miniature version of the Super Nintendo with some of the most beloved classic games in history. Titles like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Mega Man X and Donkey Kong Country would make this revisited console a hotter commodity.
Perhaps the proposed Mini SNES Classic will be ready in time for the 2017 holiday season but with the Nintendo Switch coming in March, the focus on Nintendo’s hybrid console could push it back to 2018.
Only time will tell, but in the meantime we want to know from you, would you want a SNES Classic? What games do you hope make the cut if it’s released? Sound off in the comments section below.
