NBA 2K18 player ratings keep coming, courtesy of the game’s Twitter and Instagram accounts. The latest posts offer an 85 overall for Pistons center Andre Drummond and an 89 for Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard. Drummond has decreased slightly from his former 87 stat, while Lillard decreased one point from his from his former 90 slot. The video in particular shows that Lillard is impressed with his rating as he sees it as an increase from last year, but that’s not the case.
When it comes to Drummond, we have the added benefit of a player model to look at too. That being said, in terms of the screenshots we’ve seen, the scan looks almost identical to last year’s. His head shape is slightly more defined as are his biceps, but this particular player isn’t one you’d want to reveal in a showcase for 2K18’s enhanced simulation graphics.
In terms of the overall stats of the adjustments, the results are fairly accurate. Drummond did have slightly decreased production in three-point, block and point percentages last season, so the numbers line up. For Lillard, the story is a bit more puzzling. Last year alone he recorded more rebounds and points per game than any other season in his career. Both free throws and field goal percentages were up as well.
In this case, we imagine the decrease was made to better scale Lillard against the rest of the athletes in the game. After all, 2K marketing guru Ronnie Singh did just recently tweet something interesting about the scale of ratings that exists in the 2K18 roster. There are apparently two players with overall ratings at or beyond 96, with four in the 95+ category. Kevin Durant has already been tagged as a 96, so who might the other three be? Our bets are on LeBron and Anthony Davis being somewhere in that mix.
While most NBA 2K18 player ratings for the vast majority of the roster remain under wraps, Singh just recently asked his Twitter followers to send requests for specific player stats. That means there will likely be lots more number crunching ahead in the coming days. We currently have ratings for Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, John Wall, Paul George, DeMar DeRozan and Isiah Thomas.
It’s been a pretty busy week for followers of NBA 2K18. Not only did we receive our first news about the Prelude demo on PS4 and Xbox One, but 2K also revealed the title’s first major gameplay trailer and a development diary focused on art direction. These announcements arrive in addition to the MyGM and soundtrack reveals from previous weeks. While it’s taken a while for details to arrive, 2K and Visual Concepts are finally starting to deliver all the juicy details necessary for fans to make an informed purchase.
NBA 2K18 comes to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch and PC Sept. 19.
