Need for Speed Unbound just got a new update, Vol. 8: Cops vs. Racers that adds a new game mode as well as new cop tech and new vehicles.

The new mode in the latest patch is known as "Hot Pursuit" mode and it also adds the brand-new "Cop Career" for players to try out. The first new mode is now available in Lakeshore Online.

Need for Speed Unbound Update

It sees four-player teams facing off as either cops or racers and takes place over two rounds, giving each team a chance to play each role.

The primary goal of this new mode is to get to the finish without succumbing to the attention of the cops, who will do all in their power to stop you.

This particular mode is enhanced by a variety of new cop technology that players can unlock in Need for Speed Unbound. These range from basic spike stripes to battering rams and even an EMP, according to GTPlanet.

The latest update also adds nine unique custom cars, five of which are free for all players, which have designs that were allegedly "inspired by" police forces from around the world. These are cars that players can unlock as they rank up in the Cop Career.

The Vol. 8 patch also includes several police-themed upgrades and flairs that players can equip on their rides. These include light bars, bull bars, rims, LED plates, and an LED message bar that has customizable phrases.

Racers also get something new in the latest update, such as the 1,972 hp Lotus Evija, which is available for free with the Speed Pass, as well as the Porsche 959 S, which you can unlock through the Premium Speed Pass, said SpeedHunters.

A Ton of New Content

The Speed Pass will have 45 free tiers added with the launch of the Vol. 8 update, including the 2023 Evija, its bodykits, and rare custom. On the other hand, the Premium Speed Pass adds 30 new tiers, including nine unique Cop Customs.

The Vol. 8 update also refreshes The League, which is Free Roam's single-player progression system that was first introduced in Vol. 7.

On top of adding new opponents here, Electronic Arts also brings two original Speedhunters designs as well as two NFS Legends customs in the latest update, according to BleedingCool.

The Vol. 8 update for Need for Speed Unbound is now available for players on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, as part of the game's Year 2 Roadmap.
