Nintendo has officially confirmed Dragon Quest XI will be coming to the Switch. We’ve also gotten a sneak peek at Dragon Quest XI gameplay footage and the opening movie. On the heels of further information about Dragon Quest XI ’s story, characters and world, a new Dragon Quest XI video has revealed flying mounts, the camping menu and even a glimpse at combat.
Check out the video below, which comes via a Dragon Quest 30th anniversary NHK broadcast:
The flying mounts will be available in addition to the horses.
The camping menu has the following options: Rest (regenerate health/MP), Mysterious Crafting, Pray to the Statue of the Goddess, Wander Around and Stop Camping. The second menu screen is the actual crafting menu from which you can craft weapons from various ingredients.
As for combat, we see only a brief glimpse of a sword hit and an enemy fleeing, while another scene shows us the hero entering a temple and in an urban environment.
We also see the 3DS version in development, with a hero rowing a boat, and a playtesting session of the game.
The end of the video shows composer Koichi Sugiyama working on a new melody for the game.
Dragon Quest XI will be released in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and 3DS. A Nintendo Switch version has also been confirmed. There’s no word yet on the release window, but we’ll let you know as soon as there is.
