Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and after a tutorial on Super Mario Run , Reggie delighted viewers and those in attendance with an actual look at the Nintendo Switch console.
The hybrid console made a surprise appearance as Reggie showed off real-time footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and let Fallon play the game on the actual Nintendo Switch, showing off how it looks outside of a trailer.
Check out Jimmy Fallon geeking out over the Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild in the clip below, which starts around the 4:38 mark.
Reggie showed off some gameplay as he told the audience everything you can see in the background and the distance can be reached in this game, a point that producer Shigeru Miyamoto (who was also in attendance) has made in the past.
The environment of Breath of the Wild plays a huge part in the game, as Reggie used a boulder to defeat a horde of bokoblins before he switched the game from the screen to the portable handheld part of the console, simply taking it off the dock so Fallon could continue exactly where he left off.
It was also great to see how small and compact the Nintendo Switch actually is, with Fallon holding it in one hand. It’s much smaller and thinner than the Wii U gamepad, making it easier to travel with.
While nothing new regarding specs or games for the Nintendo Switch were announced, Jan. 12’s big Nintendo Switch announcement will be where more information is released before its March debut.
