If you were looking forward to what Nvidia was planning on announcing at their upcoming GTC event, then you will have to wait a little while longer. Nvidia was going to reveal its latest technology and products on Tuesday, March 24, but those plans have changed and the company has decided to completely delay the reveal. The PC community was mostly excited about Nvidia's upcoming Ampere graphics cards, which will introduce the company into the next-gen. The announcement was made via Nvidia's official blog post.
“We have exciting products and news to share with you. But this isn’t the right time. We’re going to hold off on sharing our GTC news for now," the blog post read. "That way, our employees, partners, the media and analysts who follow us, and our customers around the world can focus on staying safe and reducing the spread of the virus.”
Just like many other companies, Nvidia has also adopted a remote work policy where employees will work from home. Hourly workers will also stay at home and won’t have to work, but they will still receive their full income.
All is not lost for news from Nvidia, however. “We will still stream tons of great content from researchers and developers who have prepared great talks,” Nvidia added in the post.
Covid-19 has greatly affected many companies. Recently, CD Projekt Red also announced that its employees will work from home. This policy could be a little problematic, however it is definitely necessary to stop the spread of the virus. For now, Nvidia should be praised for its decision, especially for paying full salaries to its hourly employees.
