Radiation City, an open world survival game set forty years after the nuclear fallout of Chernobyl, is now available on Nintendo Switch.
As seen on the launch trailer, Radiation City has been redefined for the Nintendo Switch with revamped graphics and visuals, a new combat system, varied enemy mechanics, and a “closer to a hardcore experience.”
Radiation City welcomes players to another great survival adventure. The setting is the recreated city of Pripyat, forty years after the unfortunate Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. The real city of Pripyat is in northern Ukraine and was founded in 1970 as the ninth nuclear city in the Soviet Union. But what was once a model city of the Soviet government, Pripyat has become known as a ghost town following the unfortunate accident.
Players face the challenging task of uncovering the amazing story, untangling the mystery of a missing loved one, and trying to save them in a huge, open world filled with dangers and anomalies such as hungry predators and sub-human creatures. Players need to scavenge for resources inside abandoned buildings and Pripyat landmarks, including Polissya hotel, the city’s cultural center, cinema Prometheus, and the Azure Swimming Pool. With the resources gathered, players eventually realize that their equipment and weapons are their only friends. Be sure to craft and choose your gear wisely to survive Radiation City.
Radiation City on Nintendo Switch brings new features to the game such as:
- Revamped Visuals — Experience updated graphics and visuals, including lighting, shading, and building interiors.
- New Combat Systems — Evade or slay hungry predators and subhuman creatures with updated physics-based combat.
- Bigger Stakes — Switch players will experience a hardened world with bigger consequences, including checkpoint restarts instead of instant respawns.
Radiation City is the successor to Radiation Island, which came to Switch in 2018. Radiation Island is a survival adventure game that allows players to experience being part of the Philadelphia Experiment. Players become stranded in a parallel, alternate reality, and discover a new and mysterious world. Players must use every resource available to survive the new world and solve its puzzle so that they can get back to the real world.
Released last June 13, Radiation City on Nintendo Switch is available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop for $19.99. The first-person action-adventure game is also available on iOS and Android devices.
