Pokémon Go got its gym overhaul update this week, and it’s open to trainers level 25 and above. However, as with most major adjustments, Niantic is still working out the kinks. Are you getting a “gym is under attack” message when nobody’s around? According to a recent tweet, the developers hear you.

Shortly after the gym update expanded its cap to level 25, a curious phenomenon started happening. Those who had just emerged victorious at a gym were unable to place their Pokémon there. Instead, a message suggesting “the gym is under attack” displayed with no attacker to be found.

In response, Niantic has offered the following message. “We’re aware some trainers aren’t able to assign a Pokémon to a gym shortly after claiming the gym,” the tweet reads, “we’re actively working to resolve this.”

Over the past few hours the reports have lessened, but it’s still a pretty major issue if left unsolved. In the best case scenario trainers are typically able to add their Pokémon after about 10 minutes, but, under the worst circumstances, other players can possibly snipe your victory and assign their own monsters if their app doesn’t show the same error. After all the effort you just made to conquer your enemies, that’s definitely not something that should keep happening in the future. This is especially true if the person who just sniped you is GPS spoofing to be at that location in the first place. Simply put, this ordeal combines two of Pokémon Go’s most chronic problems: software bugs and cheaters gaining an unfair advantage.

Of course, while the “gym under attack” error is a very prominent one in the latest Pokémon Go update, it’s not the only bug players are experiencing. So far, we’ve read multiple reports of crashes when entering gyms or crashes when temporarily leaving a gym to heal up. There are also occasional death loops that can occur after Pokémon faint or if they’re changed during battle. These less frequent issues are probably being looked at as well, but the troublesome situation described above is clearly more frustrating.

Earlier this week, a select number of Pokémon Go players were privy a major overhaul of the previous gym system. As our guide on the subject describes, it rejuvenates the PvP battle suite in a number of ways. There’s a new coin collection mechanic, real gym badges and cooperative Raid Battles against super powerful foes. Once all the above issues are eventually squared away, we imagine these new features will eventually culminate in the arrival of legendary Pokémon. One hasn’t been sighted yet, but we don’t imagine it will be too long before that happens. This update is one of two major Pokémon Go patches due for the rest of the year.

Pokémon Go is available now on Android and iOS. Be sure to check the guide linked above for everything you should know about modern gyms.
