Trainers, put those thinking caps on as Pokémon Go is set to launch a new Special Research story event which is sure to test those investigative brains. Titled as A Drive to Investigate, players are asked by Professor Willow to know what Pokémon has been creating some recent damage.
The Special Research story even starts on March 20 and ends on March 26. To be part of the event, you need to have a ticket. This ticket can be purchased at the shop for $7.99 and can't be bought with PokéCoins. To buy the ticket, here’s what you need to do:
- Go the Learn More button in the shop and tap it.
- Tap the Buy button.
- You should get a pop-up indicating that you’ve received a ticket for A Drive to Investigate.
- Tap OK and then can find the ticket in your Item Bag.
- Before the event, you’ll receive a medal when you open the app.
- However when opened during the event, you get access to A Drive to Investigate Special Research.
Once you have the ticket, you get to access these:
- A new Special Research line that features Genesect
- This is the Pokémon's first appearance in the game.
- A Drive to Investigate medal
- Research objectives that can lead to encounters with different Bug-type and Steel-type Pokémon that include:
- Pinsir
- Scizor
- Skarmory
- Karrablast
- Shelmet
- Research objectives that lead to an encounter with Durant.
- Durant is usually available only in the eastern hemisphere.
- Exclusive Genesect-themed avatar items like a bag and a cap.
- Completing exclusive Field Research tasks lets you encounter:
- Scyther
- Skarmory
- Nincada
- Shieldon
- 5 Premium Battle Passes
- 3 Super Incubators
- 3 Charged TMs
- 3 Fast TMs
- 3 Incense
- 3 Star Pieces
- 1 Poffin
- 15 Rare Candies
- 1 Glacial Lure
Weekend Event
Launcing with the Special Research story event is a Genesect-themed weekend event. it begins on the same date, March 20, but ends a bit earlier on March 23. For this event, Trainers can expect:
- These Pokémon appear in the wild more often:
- Jigglypuff
- Magnemite
- Marill
- Houndour
- Snorunt
- Nincada is going to be appear not only in the wild, but also from 5-km Eggs.
- Those lucky enough can even encounter, or hatch, the Shiny version.
- Karrablast and Shelmet are going to hatch more often from 5 km Eggs.
- One-star to four-star Raid Battles are going to feature different Bug-type or Steel-type Pokémon.
Finishing this event rewards players with 2x Catch Stardust and 2x hatch Stardust.
