It’s possible Marvel and Netflix have other plans for Frank Castle before his Punisher show premieres on the streaming service.
New York Comic Con just announced Bernthal will only attend two days of the convention, due to A scheduling conflict with Netflix.
Interesting. Screen Rant reports the Punisher series isn’t set to premiere on Netflix until 2018. The Marvel Netflix series usually begin filming a year prior to their release date, so production would likely begin in 2017. Netflix is currently filming Iron Fist starring Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones. It’s possible Netflix is trying to crank out Punisher before The Defenders and Iron Fist , both rumored to be released in 2017.
However, Marvel has Luke Cage coming out on Sept. 30. It doesn’t make sense for Marvel to rush through a Punisher production as Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been wildly successful, even without much hype. Considering Jessica Jones wasn’t a widely known comic book character before the Netflix series, it’s unlikely Marvel would skimp on the Punisher production. They’ve done an excellent job with organically introducing Frank Castle in Daredevil; maybe he’ll pop up in another Netflix show before then.
Speaking of Jessica Jones , fans can look forward to a second season of the hit Netflix series. Marvel hasn’t confirmed a release date, but it’s likely the series will be out by late 2017. Maybe Frank Castle will cross paths with Jessica in Hell’s Kitchen!
What do you think is going on with the Punisher series? Will Netflix try to capitalize on the Frank Castle hype and release the show in 2017? Let us know in the comments below.
