Old School RuneScape finally debuts the PvP game mode known as Soul Wars. In this mode, as many as 120 players fight it out to get as many kills as they can. Based on how many kills they have, players get victory points that can be exchanged for a number of major in-game rewards.
To add some excitement, Soul Wars is hosted by the character Nomad. This warrior-mage is the same host of the minigame in the original game version, released more than a decade ago.
A Bit of History
You’re probably wondering why we said “finally.” There’s a game called RuneScape released in the beta stage back in 2001. The game engine has been rewritten with the third iteration known as RuneScape 3 released in 2013.
In 2013 as well, a poll was made and it was decided that the 2007 RuneScape version would be developed into a new game and this became Old School RuneScape . What makes it different is that everything is community-based. Any update for example needs to be voted “Yes” by at least 75% of the community in order to be implemented.

Soul Wars
Now, Soul Wars was first introduced to RuneScape back in 2009. The fact that it is considered a classic piece of legacy content from the old game has resulted in this mode being requested by the community. When it was initially nominated, more than 50,000 players participated and 83% said they wanted it to be part of Old School RuneScape.
The addition of this mode to Old School RuneScape opens up the possibility of other legacy content to be included in the game.
Coincidentally, the debut of this mode is just in time for RuneScape 's 20th anniversary. There’s no question that for players, Soul Wars is one that offers nostalgia while also being able to attract those who want PvP.
So, what’s going to be the next content to be added? To that we say, keep your eyes peeled.
