Another classic gets ported to the Nintendo Switch, this time a title from THQ Nordic.
Developed by Volition and published by THQ Nordic, Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered is a revamped version of the third game in the Red Faction series. Originally released back in 2009, this terrain-ravaging third-person shooter is all set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch, and comes with everything included in the remastered version initially released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. THQ Nordic released a trailer for the Switch yesterday, and you can view it below in all its awesome glory.
Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered was first teased when Switch controller icons were spotted in the game’s PC version last summer. It detailed specific key bindings for the Joy-cons, and sure enough, a Switch version was shortly confirmed to be in the works.
A press release for Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered also listed some of the features that will be coming to the Switch version.
Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered - Nintendo Switch Features:
- Choice between Performance and Quality Mode
- Fully reworked graphics – heavily reworked textures and graphic features adding, for example, specular maps
- Improved shadow rendering
- Improved lighting
- Reworked shaders and postprocessing
- Optional Motion Controls for a better sense of aiming while playing in handheld mode
It’s interesting to see options for two different modes, performance and quality. We may see higher framerates and overall smoother performance on the performance mode, while the quality may set the graphical settings to a higher value while sacrificing some performance. The Switch version of Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered will also include the remastered textures and graphics first introduced to the consoles and the PC, as well as improved rendering, lighting and postprocessing. The inclusion of motion controls is an amazing one as well, and it feels like THQ Nordic went all out with the port, keeping in mind that there are some players on the Switch who actually like motion-controlled aiming, like the one found in titles like Splatoon 2.
The Switch version of Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered also includes the multiplayer modes as with the original, which will allow you to play with other players in various modes.
Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch on July 2. It is available now for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
