Southpaw Regional Wrestling took the wrestling community by storm. What’s a simple miniseries on YouTube produced by the WWE has now spawned a second season, featuring even more wrestlers than before.
Now, Season 2 of Southpaw Regional Wrestling takes place before Season 1, serving as a prequel to give more insight into how some of the characters got to where they were in the first season. This is especially true with Chet Chetterfield.
Instead of Lethal Leap Year, we have the Showdown at the Swamp and even more WWE Superstars have made their way to Southpaw Regional Wrestling to show off their comedic chops.
Although many of the superstars in the cast are easily recognizable, some of them will play new characters in Season 2. There are also some of the Season 1 folks that make a return, so check out our Season 1 recap, here.
Here are some of the new wrestling characters that will appear in Southpaw Regional Wrestling Season 2.
Daniel Bryan as Rene Beret/Dan Bandana
Daniel Bryan pulls double duty as the American-loving Frenchman, Rene Beret, and the all-American, Dan Bandana. What makes this performance great is how Bryan parodies the “evil” foreigner gimmick and puts the shoe on the other foot.
AJ Styles as Malibu Al
Malibu Al is the creepy, conniving car salesman that is often depicted in television and movies. Malibu Al, however, takes it a step further by inserting his sexual innuendoes into his commercials.
Dolph Ziggler as Nicci Lee Styxxx
Southpaw’s own rockstar, Nicci Lee Styxx doesn’t so much wrestle as he bangs on his drumsticks.
Renee Young as Susan
If you recall from Southpaw season 1, you’ll know that color commentary Chet Chetterfield was distraught after Susan left him. Well, we finally meet Susan as the southern blonde, backstage reporter who apparently has a thing for gardeners.
Seth Rollins and Rhyno as The Butchers - “Dry Rub” Doug and Frantic Frank
Southpaw Regional Wrestling’s tag team champs, The Butchers bring their special brand of bad meat puns and even worse meat to the promotion as they head into their match with the team of Chad 2Bad and Tex Fergusson.
Natalya as Debbie Desperado
Southpaw actually brought a woman to wrestle at the Showdown at the Swamp (laughs). Unfortunately, the promotion only got one woman, so Debbie won’t be wrestling anytime soon.
The Miz as “Astonishing” Adam Dung
The Astonishing One goes into Showdown at the Swamp to fight The Banker, but the stiff, nervous wrestler won’t make it to the Swamp because of The Banker’s hired goons.
Big E and Xavier Woods as Banker’s Voodoo Tag Team
The mysterious brothers use their voodoo magic to inflict a massive amount of pain to Adam Dung and force him to leave town, giving The Banker the forfeit victory.
Jason Jordan as Porkchop Jones
One of the more beloved wrestlers at Southpaw Regional is Dewey Jackson who has gone missing. The wrestlers and promoters have come together to honor Dewey including Porkchop Jones, the charismatic southern cowboy.
The Ascension as Top Guns/The Danger Zone
This new tag team called the Top Guns barely landed before a cease and desist letter forced a stable name change to The Danger Zone. Something tells me that the new name won’t fly either.
Michael Hayes as Dewey Jackson
The missing Dewey Jackson appears at the Showdown at the Swamp just as the benefit concert was about to start. Hopefully Southpaw Regional were able to get as much money from the merchandise sales before Dewey reappeared.
