With major players like Samsung, LG and Motorola (Lenovo) set to release new devices in the coming months, HTC is not keen to be out of the loop. A new report from Venturebeat indicates the Taiwanese manufacturer is working on a new device, which would be its most advanced to date.
Rumors about a smartphone codenamed the HTC Perfume have circulated for some time. The publication claims these devices are one in the same. As HTC’s previous flagship was called the HTC One M9, pundits have taken to calling the still unreleased device the HTC One M10.
Rumored specifications for the HTC One M10 or HTC Perfume include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with microSD expansion and the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. The smartphone would be HTC’s first to feature a Quad HD display with 1440 x 2560 resolution, according to Venturebeat.
The HTC One M10 is also expected to feature a 12-UltraPixel resolution camera developed in-house by HTC. Handsets like the HTC One M8 have also featured cameras with HTC’s technology, which includes larger pixels to let in more light and capture better details in images.
The current report did not include details about the device’s design; however, prior news has detailed that future HTC devices will likely have a design similar to that of the HTC One A9. “Starting with the One A9, our design language will enter a different and fashionable phase,” HTC North Asia president Jack Tong told Focus Taiwan last October.
The HTC One M10 likely won’t be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress, which is expected to be host to such launched as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG. HTC is known to release its flagship devices in the March/April timeframe.
