The Yo-Kai Watch anime is set to release on Disney XD on Oct. 5 with the first game to release outside of Japan on Nov. 6, and with the official Yo-Kai Watch site up and running, the first trailer for the upcoming anime has been released.
The first trailer for Yo-kai Watch explains the world of Yo-Kai Watch and introduces viewers to the main protagonist.
However, you may see some bad dubbing toward the end of the first trailer. Take a look below.
So with the Yo-Kai traversing between the Yo-kai and human worlds, it’s up to our main protagonist to befriend and stop the Yo-Kai from wreaking havoc on unsuspecting humans.
Nintendo is banking on Yo-Kai Watch to become the next Pokemon as they are marketing the franchise with the game and anime back to back just like they did with Pokémon back in 1996. It could be a surprise hit in North America and take it from us, it’s similar to Pokémon but it's different in a good way.
But what’s not so surprising is the quality of the dubbing. Hopefully the trailer doesn’t do it justice, but some parts of the first Yo-Kai Watch anime trailer doesn’t look very synced.
The lips don’t sync with the dubbed words and, frankly, the script doesn’t sound very good.
In a time where there are some quality English dubs of anime like Bleach, Kill la Kill and the like this could be a distraction. But we can’t be too surprised since Disney is distributing the dubbing and will be marketing it towards children so the script will be handled as such.
But we will have to wait and see when the Yo-Kai Watch anime debuts on Disney XD on Oct. 5 with the video game to follow on Nov. 6.
