If you’re one of those interested in playing Minecraft Dungeons but not yet sure if the game is worth your money, then now is the time. A Game Trial is available from August 18 until August 24. That means the game can be downloaded and played in full during the period. The only catch is this promotion is limited to Nintendo Switch Online members.
Since this is a Game Trial, the game won’t be playable once the period is over. However, those who decide to buy the game can immediately start where they left off using the saved data of the trial. Learn more about Game Trial here.
Switch Online
As mentioned, players need to have a membership to Switch Online to try out the game for free. This is actually just one of the many perks of being a member. Other perks include:
- Playing compatible games online with friends.
- Backing up save data for compatible games.
- Playing classic Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Entertainment System games.
- Using voice chat with the smartphone app.
- Member-only offers.
Those interested don’t need to buy a membership immediately since there is also a 7-day trial membership. Learn more about the service here.
Dungeon Crawler
Minecraft Dungeons is a spin-off of Minecraft. The game is not only available on Nintendo Switch but also on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Unlike the main game, Dungeons doesn’t offer an open world but a dungeon crawler. It does however have a story-driven campaign and cutscenes. In addition, unlike other dungeon crawlers, this one has no class system letting players use any weapon or armor.
The Standard Edition is available for $19.99. There are also two other editions which are:
- Hero Edition ($29.99)
- Base game
- Hero Cape
- 2 player skins
- Chicken Pet
- Jungle Awakens DLC
- Creeping Winter DLC
- Ultimate Edition ($39.99)
- Base game
- All 6 DLCs
- Hero Cape
- 2 player skins
- Chicken Pet
Those who buy the Standard Edition can also buy the DLCs separately. The Ultimate DLC Bundle has all six DLCs for $19.99.
