Episode 13 ended with Olivia going to her father’s house, only to find Jake already there with his girlfriend, Vanessa. The four awkwardly have drinks together, and Vanessa likely does not know about Jake and Olivia’s relationship.
After some persuasion, Francisco Vargas decides to run for president and Cyrus is pleased. Cyrus has been vying to run Vargas’ Democratic campaign, despite being a Republican. Cyrus tells Vargas a fake story about his disabled brother urging him to attend Harvard instead of staying home to care for his family. Cyrus does not have a brother.
Fitz uses his newfound single status to sleep with as many women as possible. Following Abby’s protocol, the women must sign disclosure agreements and relinquish their mobile devices before spending time with the president. However, neither Mellie nor Olivia are pleased when they learn of Fitz’ extracurricular activities.
Several Secret Service agents try to cover up their murder of a prostitute, initially hiring Pope and Associates to cover up the incident. However, Quinn investigates the matter further and discovers’ the agent's’ wrongdoing. When the truth is discovered the agents are fired and publicly denounced by the president.
In episode 14, Abby is vying to become Chief of Staff at the White House. She discovers that Cyrus Beene, the current Chief of Staff, has been conversing with Francisco Vargas and likely assumes that Cyrus now wants to work with Vargas.
Abby enlists Olivia’s help in getting the Chief of Staff gig. However, Olivia warns her that she may have to do some unsavory things in order to get the position.
Meanwhile, Olivia is still obsessed with finding out more information about Jake’s girlfriend, Vanessa. Her employees at OPA are left on their own. Both Mellie and Susan Ross are hell bent on getting the Republication nomination for president.
