Arrow needs to step it up with Season 5 or fans aren’t going to be happy, and it looks like showrunner Wendy Mericle is looking to The Flash for inspiration. TV Line caught up with Mericle, who explained Curtis Holt is taking a hint from The Flash ’s fan-favorite engineer, Cisco Ramon.
“Essentially, if she’s software, he’s hardware. As he evolves into becoming Mr. Terrific in Season 5, one of the things we’re really exploring is differentiating them by having Curtis be more like Cisco on The Flash . We want him to be a bit more hands-on, a little more about building physical tech.”
Arrow was left to defend Star City with just Felicity by his side in the Season 4 finale. Dig and Thea are taking a break from city-saving for the time being and it’s not clear when or if they’ll be back. Curtis Holt has been promoted, but he’s not exactly a physical threat. Good thing Ollie has found a few potential new teammates in Wild Dog , Artemis , and The Vigilante . Season 5 has also found one of its villains in The Walking Dead’s Chad L. Coleman, whose character sounds a lot like criminal mastermind Tobias Whale, minus the albino part. Ollie will also get some help from his old sidekick Roy, better known as The Arsenal.
Arrow Season 5 kicks off production July 5, and returns to The CW on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.
