Borderlands 3 has started its new Rare Chest Riches mini-event. The beginning of this event marks the end of the Farming Frenzy as well as the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite scaling events. Set to run for two weeks, the Rare Chest Riches event has the rarity of loot inside all Rare Chests increased. This should give players a better chance at getting Legendary Items each time they open one.
The Rare Chest Riches event officially started on January 30 at 12:00 p.m. EDT and is set to end on February 13 at 11:59 a.m. EDT.
That's not all as the loot's rarity increases even more when a player watches a streamer on Twitch open a Rare Chest and both of them have ECHOcast Twitch Extension enabled. Any rewards obtained through a streamer's Rare Chests are going to be waiting for players in their in-game mailbox the next time they log in to Borderlands 3.
If you haven't done it yet and want to receive ECHOcast rewards, here's how to link your SHiFT and Twitch accounts:
- You're going to need a SHiFT count which you can do so at the Gearbox SHiFT site. After that you need to head on over to Twitch and make an account as well.
- To link these two accounts, simply visit the settings tab on the SHiFT profile page and then click the little gear icon.
- After that click on the Twitch logo and look for Connection. Then simply follow the instructions. It's that easy.
Hotfixes
The mini-event was officially launched alongside some hotfixes as well. One change was that the Scaling Event for Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite is now permanent. That's not all, as Borderlands 3 revealed that a February update is planned which is going to include a new switch to re-enable the True Takedown Mode. This mode restores Takedown to the 4-player experience that it launched with for added difficulty.
Once the Farming Frenzy event is finished, the update is set to implement a permanent change not only to Rare Spawns but even Drop Rates. The team at Borderlands 3 said that they had analyzed play patterns, and because of this, the spawn rate for the enemies have been increased and their drop rates have been buffed.
Borderlands 3 is the fourth game in the Borderlands franchise and was released in September 2019 for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. Compared to the versions before it, Borderlands 3 now takes place on multiple planets.
