I love the fall. It’s a massive relief from the scorching summers of New York City and a buffer before the harsh winters. Fall is a great time for me personally because I get to finally bring out my favorite hoodies, sweaters and jackets.
However, I could never find a jacket that represents my geeky nature. I’ve been to conventions and window shopped online for numerous jackets that represent the many fandoms I belong to, namely comic books and Pokémon.
Often times the outerwear I find is, for lack of a better term, “too geeky,” where the front of a jacket looks like any other generic jacket but then the back is just too much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not ashamed of what I enjoy, but sometimes simple and subtle is best. So when my editor forwarded an email from the folks at CelebsClothing.com, I was interested.

I received the jacket just in time for the dip in temperature here in New York and I was immediately impressed. The Captain America varsity jacket was heftier than I expected. The jacket is 80 percent cotton and 20 percent polyester and will definitely keep you warm in the fall.
My girlfriend even took it for a spin when she got cold in the mall and she immediately loved how warm it was.
The cotton makes the jacket really comfortable to wear and the sizing is pretty spot on. While I chose a Medium, it was little bigger than expected, but that gives me room to layer up when the temperature drops and it’s not too roomy that I look like I’m wearing a size too big.
I went out in just a white tee underneath the jacket for a morning walk to get coffee and I felt more than warm enough in upper 50s temperatures.
The Captain America varsity jacket has two deep pockets on the outside, which is a welcome change from the many jackets that can barely fit my hands. I can easily put my phone inside the pocket and not fear that it will fall out (well, as much as someone who is very paranoid about that sort of thing can be).
But what really sells me on the varsity jacket is how it looks. You can see from the images on the website what you are getting but when you put it on, it looks amazing. As I mentioned before, I would prefer a jacket that is simple and subtle and that’s exactly what this is. A small embroidered Captain America shield on the chest and that’s it. However, the stitching is a little funky but it’s not a deal breaker.
The Captain America varsity jacket is casual enough to go out for any occasion while not being over the top but cool/geeky enough to go to a convention in. But if you like to let your geek flag fly, there are other varsity jackets at Celebs Clothing.com that do just that.
