New information on the next Diablo 3 expansion, which introduces the popular Necromancer class from Diablo 2, has finally been published by Blizzard. And we don’t just have a price tag for the upcoming Diablo 3 DLC, which includes some new cosmetics. We finally have a release date for the upcoming Necromancer DLC, and it’s headed to PC and consoles later this month.
According to a new Battle.net post, the Necromancer will join the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition rosters on June 27. Both versions will be $14.99 at launch. Some will likely balk at the price, given the relatively paltry contents of the Necromancer DLC, but there are undoubtedly just as many fans (maybe more) who will be happy to pay it. The game’s next add-on will also include a handful of other goodies, like a non-combat pet and other cosmetics that remain popular with the Diablo 3 community.
Here’s everything else you’ll receive with the Diablo 3 Necromancer DLC:
Non-combat pet
A pair of cosmetic wings
New Necromancer-themed Banner Shape, Sigil, and Accent
Necromancer Portrait Frame
Pennant
Two additional character slots
Two additional stash tabs*
The next Diablo 3 update, Patch 2.6.0, will also debut alongside the game’s next expansion. The patch will add Challenge Rifts -- think of the daily runs in games like Spelunky , with a twist -- and three new zones: Temple of the Firstborn, the Shrouded Moors and the Realms of Fate. It’s important to note that Patch 2.6.0 won’t be available for all Diablo 3 players, only those who’ve already purchased Reaper of Souls or a console port of the game. We’re not sure why anyone would still be playing vanilla Diablo 3 in 2017, given how poorly it was received by most fans, but consider yourselves warned all the same.
For an early look at the Necromancer class, check out the preview trailer published on Tuesday. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to pick up the next Diablo 3 expansion when it debuts later this month.
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and OS X. The game's Necromancer DLC debuts June 27.
