Last week, developer Bethesda Softworks announced that the upcoming update to Fallout 76 will feature a brand new dungeon as a well as an in-game camera item. The dungeon, called The Burrows, will be located underneath Harpers Ferry. The new dungeon locatio also comes with its own quest, The Burrows’ Waste Management, which has players on cleanup detail. Fortunately (or unfortunately to people who like to clean things up ala Viscera Cleanup Detail) this just means you’re going to have to “clean up” the dungeon by killing the enemies that dwell within it.
In Fallout 76 lore, The Burrows is actually the sewage system designed for Harpers Ferry, and more or less looks and feels like a modern-day sewer. However, when the nuclear apocalypse destroyed most of the surface world, The Burrows became a haven to those who survived. While there are friendly NPCs dwelling in the new location, it’s more or less a breeding ground for enemies and radioactive creatures. We don’t have the details just yet, but we won’t be surprised to find a giant killer crocodile as we venture through its depths later this week. It is important to note that The Burrows isn’t very new-player friendly. Designed to take on two or more Level 50 players, The Burrows is a challenging dungeon location. Make sure to bring a friend - or lots of friends - and your highest-level equipment because you’re definitely going to need it.
Originally, the Fallout 76 update that will introduce The Burrows would have also included the in-game camera item. However, Bethesda has decided to hold off on releasing the camera just yet, to further tweak it and make sure it’s game-ready before players get their hands on it. The Burrows update is expected to come out later today, on April 16th, and the camera should come out just a little while later.
The in-game camera sparked a ton of interest when it was initially announced. Fallout 76, no matter what other people say, is set in such a beautiful, sprawling world, and while Photo Mode is already a thing that exists in the game, adding an equippable and fully-functional camera to the game just adds to the immersion even more.
