Square Enix will be shutting down service to Final Fantasy 15’s short-lived mobile spinoff game, Justice Monsters V.
After Feb. 27, players will no longer be able to purchase the “Golden Orb” in-game currency. Square Enix will announce plans to reimburse unused Golden Orbs at a later date to be determined.
Justice Monsters V launched in Europe, America and Japan on both iOS and Android in late August, meaning the game didn’t even make it to a full year. Square Enix had plans to release Justice Monsters V on Windows 10 but ultimately didn’t do so.
The announcement makes it unclear whether Justice Monsters V will be pulled from iOS and Android in all territories, though it seems a safe bet.
Justice Monsters V is a pinball mini-game in the main Final Fantasy 15 game that features monsters from the Final Fantasy series. You can find the pinball machines scattered in diners across the open world portion of the game.
Meant to be an addictive mini-game like Final Fantasy VIII’s Triple Triad or Final Fantasy X’s Blitzball, Square Enix created the mobile game spinoff of Justice Monsters V as another way to hook players into the world of Final Fantasy 15. But with the success of Final Fantasy 15 and its extended world in Kingsglaive and Brotherhood as well as extensive DLC plans, Square Enix must have decided it didn’t need to spend resources on an underperforming mobile spinoff anyway.
