Samsung’s smartphones have become pretty predictable. So not long after the launch of the Galaxy S7, rumors surfaced about a Galaxy S7 Active model. Last week, tech informant Evan Blass shared details about AT&T testing the unreleased device for its network. Now, it appears Samsung has inadvertently let the cat out of the bag and shared details about the Galaxy S7 Active within its Samsung Level application, according to tech blog SamMobile .
Samsung Level is the manufacturer's brand of headphones and other audio products, which would no doubt need to be compatible with Samsung’s latest smartphones. In a recent update of the Samsung Level application, the Galaxy S7 Active is included within the changelog of devices supported under the update. All other devices listed are Samsung smartphones already on the market.
Samsung is known for including compatibility notices for unreleased devices within application updates. Details about the Galaxy S7 Edge were similarly revealed on a Samsung developer’s website prior to launch.
Even with the mention, there are no spec details available for the Galaxy S7 Active at this time. However, based on older models, the device will likely feature a rugged design and should be dust-proof and drop-proof, making it a good option for very activity-focused smartphone users.
The Galaxy S7 Active will likely have features similar to the Galaxy S7, including a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, 12-megapixel camera, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device may also include a larger battery than the Galaxy S7.
Typically, the Galaxy S Active devices are an AT&T exclusive, and release just weeks after their flagship counterparts hit stores.
